PRECISION TRAINING
Tailored to Individual Development
"If you're not testing, you're just guessing"
This quote has become a centrepiece of what we do at Sport Science. Our approach to athlete development relies on knowing where the athlete is, understanding their deficits and strengths and leveraging expert coaching to make sure the athlete is pouring all their work and effort in the areas that will have the greatest impact on their game.

PRO HOCKEY TESTING
Using Medical Grade Technology
Just like in the top professional hockey organizations around the world, we use research grade testing technologies to analyze each athlete throughout the program. Unlike some approaches to athlete testing, this tech breaks down sub components of composite movements so we can accurately understand where athletes needs to gain. This allows us to design the program to best suit athlete needs.

ATHLETE REPORTS
At Baseline, Mid Program and Exit
Track your progress with our athlete performance reports. Following each block of testing, the team will send out an update on how well the athlete is adapting to the prescribed programming. This is great feedback for the athlete but also helps the coaches stay on top on monitoring the development and workload.

TEST WHAT MATTERS
TRAIN WHAT MATTERS
WHY DO WE TEST AT SPORT SCIENCE?
1. Athlete Identification and Performance Ranking
- How do I compare to other players my age or players at the next level?

2. Performance Gap Analysis
- What specific areas to I need to train to get the greatest gains?
3. Injury Prevention Impression and Risk Mitigation
- Am I showing signs of increased acute or chronic injury risk?

4. Athlete Monitoring and Readiness
- Am I progressing as expected in my training?

5. Return to Play Data in the Case of Injury
- How does a doctor or physio know when I can safely return from injury?

SPORT SCIENCE TESTING
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE DATA
SHOULD SAY, IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE DATA
Sport science testing is important. With that said, it should be understood that it is only one part of a much more important sport science process. As you can see on the charts to the left, testing is going to reveal fluctuations in an athlete's abilities, strengths and weaknesses. As far as we can tell, there are 3 types of offseason programs.
1. Programs that don't test or track individual development.
2. Programs that test some surface level performance movements and help athletes see their progress.
3. Programs that track "in-depth" athlete performance data and are equipped and positioned to respond appropriately and precisely to fluctuations to ensure optimal outcomes.
Our team is built on sound science and integrated teams of experts that work together to ensure we fall squarely into category #3.
